Starbucks
Starbucks started in Seattle, born on Pike Place Market’s cobblestone streets in 1971. The first store sold “fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea, and spices from around the world.”
The name was inspired by “Moby-Dick,” paying homage to the first seafarers and early coffee traders. Howard Schultz, a young man from New York, experienced Starbucks for the first time in 1981 before joining the company in 1982.
Starbucks’ classic green aprons wouldn’t be implemented until 1987.

Colectivo Coffee of the Third Ward
Colectivo Coffee’s Third Ward location is across the street from the Milwaukee Public Market. Their open-air concept is a tip of the hat to the merchants that first inhabited the historic neighborhood.
The Third Ward café is unique because of its “custom windows,” which allow for a crossover of indoor and outdoor dining and bike racks. Stop by Colectivo’s Third Ward location and experience the “open-air café.”
